Wrestling

I started wrestling, which is the most favorite sport now. I saw a video of wrestlers doing insane moves, such as neck springs and suplexes. Because I also loved going to the gym at that time, wrestling was really fascinating to me. When I came back to Korea during my winter break, I tried out wrestling. From my first practice session, I immediately  learned that wrestling is a tough sport and I have to be more resilient. However, as time passed, I had a feeling that I am not improving on my skills or power. For example, I wasn't able to takedown my sparring partner who was 15kg lighter than me.

Since I liked wrestling so much and wanted to be better at it, I really started to try my best starting from the spring of 2025. Starting then, I tried my best to go to the wrestling center in my freetimes. During practices, unlike before, I started to not give up on situations, where I would have given up in the past. As I became more resilient and hard working, I could feel that my skills were improving every single day.

For these practices, we start to warm up by running for 6 minutes. Then, we do 50 burpees, 50 knee jumps, 50 pushups to completely warm our bodies. After doing some additional neck bridges and rollings, we spar lightly for about 30 minutes. During these times, we use skills and techniques that we are still developing. After a light spar, we start our main session, which is a full spar, for 20 minutes. In these sessions, we use 90%-100% of our powers and pretend as if it is our real match. After all the training is done, we end our practice by physical training, such as pull ups and pushups, and stretches.

Finally, after lots of practice, I went to Hong Kong for the International Wrestling Competition. Since it was my first ever competition, I was very anxious and afraid to start my match. Different from my expectations and thoughts, my first and second match went really well. I could use all of my skills that I practiced and could win both of the games by 10 to 0. Unfortunately, I was not able to win the third match. However, I am so proud of myself that I could be in second place and get a silver medal for my first ever competition.
